GRASSROOTS FOOTBALL SET TO RETURN SOON

The Government have now given permission for grassroots football to return to our lives – but with several restrictive measures due to coronavirus.

Pre-season friendlies can be played behind closed doors from the start of August, with the hope the new 2020-21 season can commence in early September, but again at this stage, without paying supporters attending.

The FA have issued guidelines to help clubs complete and comply with Risk Assessments ahead of opening up their grounds and many clubs, including Vauxhall Motors FC, are looking for additional help on match days to steer them through these trying times.

The F A Cup is currently due to start on Tuesday 1st September, while the league programme is set to begin on Saturday 5th September. The F A Vase should commence two weeks later.

The Motors vice-chairman Alan Bartlam commented “It is wonderful that grassroots football looks set to return but it is going to be strange at first. We shall need all the help we can muster on matchdays to ensure everything is in place. As to when paying spectators will be able to return to the grounds remains to be seen but hopefully it will not be too long.”
