DOMINOES EASILY TOPPLED BY DEPLETED MOTORS

Stone Dominoes 0 v 3 Vauxhall Motors

Despite being without four main line midfielders, Danny Cross, Dave Webb, Hydyn Cooper and Joe Heath, Vauxhall still had more than enough to comfortably complete their ninth league double of the season and their sixth straight victory, as their ended a hugely satisfying season as runners-up.

It took the Motormen a little while to find their feet at the Wellbeing Stadium but it all started to come together on 21 minutes, when they took a deserved lead.  From a left-sided corner taken by Karl Noon, Motors first effort on goal was blocked only for striker George Hassall to convert the rebound.

Just four minutes later, Mick McGraa’s side moved further ahead, when Matty Carlin headed home another Noon corner and on 41 minutes, defender Kynan Mason got himself on the scoresheet  with a neat finish from just inside the area after a good build up play.

At the interval, the Motors boss brought on three frontline substitutes and whilst they almost presented the hosts with two decent chances through poor defending in the second half, it was virtually all-one way traffic towards the home goal, predominantly down the right flank through the impressive Noon and substitute Mike Burkey.  Dominoes keeper Steve Dryden made umpteen saves without really being tested, as Motors peppered the Stone goal with shots from every angle and numerous ones off target, but they were unable to add to their three-goal first half tally as the campaign came to a bitterly cold finale.

Vauxhall: Leigh, Mason, Drummond, Carlin, Mitchell, Waring, Brandon (Burkey 46), Quinn (Greenop 46), Hassall (Hamm 46), Noon, Holmes.  Subs not used; Heath.
