Vauxhall Motors FC return to action this Saturday afternoon as they visit Irlam FC, as the Ellesmere Port based side look to continue an unbeaten run in the league so far this season.

Despite their last game seeing them dumped out of the FA Cup away to Whitchurch Alport, Mick McGraa’s Vauxhall Motors have started their season in great form with two wins against Kendal Town and Lower Breck and they’re next in league action on Thursday night as they travel to Irlam.

The Salford based club, who were founded in 1935, have had a tricky start to the campaign as they have so far failed to register a win in their first three outings. Last weekend, they were knocked out of the FA Cup by Avro 4-0 and have been defeated against AFC Liverpool and Wythenshawe Town in the NWCFL Premier Division after finishing 10th last season.

The Blues are managed by John Main, the appointment from within being made in late March 2021 as Main was a key part of the club’s Youth and Development teams. A month later, Dave Pike was appointed Chairman following an AGM meeting.

Following his appointment, Pike explained the aspirations he has for his role “We are an incredibly aspirational club and my passion is in helping the club achieve its dreams of playing football at the highest level with the best facilities possible”.

Touching on the club’s facilities, Irlam play at the RG3 digital stadium and have done so since 2002 when they hosted Manchester United Youth on an occasion that holds the club’s highest attendance record of 950.

Their previous ground was named Salteye Park, having to move due to the stadium being requisitioned to build Salford Reds’ new venue. The Reds being a Rugby League Club.

Irlam’s last three honours include two Manchester FA Challenge Cup Wins in 2004 and 2006 respectively and a Charter Standard Cup Win in 2010.

Ticket details for Saturday afternoon’s game can be found on Irlam’s club website and social media platforms ahead of kick off, all support for McGraa’s Motors is appreciated!
