A couple of days after Vauxhall Motors’ 6-1 home victory against Lower Breck, Mick McGraa’s men were dealt with a blow away at Winsford United.

The Blues netted through Daniel Boden on the 64th minute and the evening went from bad to worse when Jordan Deer received a red card for making a challenge to win the ball with little time left on the clock.

The first half failed to bring much action as there were no clear cut chances created by either side.

Winsford had the first attempt of the game but it was comfortably saved by Motors keeper Ciaran O’Loughlin, on the tenth minute mark.

The Motormen grew into the match as Jake Parker, who scored on his debut last time out, saw his shot bobble wide.

Defender Greg Drummond hit the side netting with a few minutes left before the break.

Vauxhall came out for the second half with continued momentum as they searched for the opener and Michael Burkey was close to finding the net but for a great save by Winsford stopper Arran Lyons.

The hosts would get close when there was a mix up at the back between the Motors defenders but the forward’s shot went wide.

It would be Winsford that edged themselves in front though as Daniel Boden struck as he manoeuvred his way past the visiting backline.

Motors midfielder Jordan Deer was sent off for making a challenge to win the ball, to make matters worse.

Mick McGraa labelled the performance as ‘shocking’ and ’embarassing’, and apologised to travelling supporters who made the trip to the Barton Stadium.

Vauxhall Motors are next back in action a week on Saturday, as they travel to 21st placed Burscough.
