Vauxhall Motors’s fantastic start to the season continued with a 2-0 victory at home against West Didsbury and Chorlton on Tuesday night. The goals came from Lewis Buckley and Sean Moscrop.

The visitors would start the match strongly as the first chance fell their way, the effort being fired over the crossbar.

However, it was Vauxhall who came closest to the goal first. Sabu Smith played the ball to Michael Burkey who cut inside and hit the crossbar with a curling effort.

West struck the crossbar themselves a few minutes later from distance and this evidently frustrated the hosts as Haydn Cooper was booked shortly after with the bar still ringing.

A yellow card for Tom Mitchell would also follow as there were few other efforts in the opening half to note.

Similar to the latter stages of the first, both sides were struggling to create chances at the start of the second half.

Mick McGraa made his first substitution of the night when Bobbie McDonnell came on to replace Jordan Deer, bringing some fresh legs to the Motors attack.

Two more changes would be made shortly afterwards with Haydn Cooper and Michael Burkey being replaced by Sean Moscrop and Francois Antoinne.

These replacements proved to be successful as Lewis Buckley edged the hosts in front on the 73rd minute, the ball fell to the forward in the box and his smashed effort fired into the back of the net.

The goalscorer was soon replaced by summer signing Aaron Dawson, with ten minutes left of the game and in the fourth minute of added time at the end of the ninety, Sean Moscrop doubled the lead to ensure that all three points were secure in The Motors’ favour.

It’s been a fantastic start to the season for Mick McGraa’s side and their next game is at home to FC Isle Of Man on Saturday afternoon!
