Motors pick up 3 points at Padiham

Padiham 0 Vauxhall Motors 1 | Ruby Civil Arena | 07/12/22 | 8pm KO

Vauxhall Motors beat Padiham 1-0 at The Ruby Civil Arena with a first-half goal by Michael Burkey, on Tuesday night.

The two sides were facing each other for the second time in four days, after Jordan Deer’s strike secured all three points for The Motormen in Ellesmere Port.

McGraa’s team started the game on the front foot and were close to getting themselves in front when hosts keeper Matthew Hamnett stopped a great free kick by Michael Burkey. Lewis Buckley’s rebounded effort was also saved, fantastically.

Moments later. a great chance for Buckley went flashing by as his shot was hit wide.

Thus it was teammate Burkey that opened the scoreline, as he rifled his effort into the net from 18 yards out. The winger carefully cut in from the right and smashed the ball home into the bottom corner of Hamnett’s goal.

Very few chances were created in the second half, with The Motors defence remaining resilient to keep on to the lead as a shot smashed onto their post.

Frustrations rose when hosts midfielder Joel Brownhill was dismissed for violent conduct after a tackle from Aaron Dawson.

There was little else to report on as McGraa’s side remained at the top of the league with two successive wins against 13th placed Padiham who had previously been in good form.

Vauxhall Motors are next in action on December 17th as they host Northwich Victoria at The VanEupen Arena.
