Motors visit Ashville in local derby

Vauxhall Motors return to action on Saturday afternoon as they travel to Ashville to continue their preparations for the new season.

The Motormen drew against EFL opposition in their last time out as they hosted Tranmere Rovers at The VanEupen Arena after beating both Ruthin and Winsford United.

It was recently announced that last season’s star man Michael Burkey would be staying on for another year and he proved a threat to The Rovers’ backline.

However, it was full-back Sean Smith that got closest to opening the scoreline as he forced keeper Luke McGee into making a fantastic acrobatic save just before the whistle blew for the break.

Ashville, nicknamed The Villa, finished 12th in the NWCFL Division One South last year and will thus provide a good test this weekend.
