Motors visit Hednesford in huge relegation battle match

By Ethan Hoijord

Vauxhall Motors are back in action this Saturday afternoon as they travel to Hednesford Town.

The Motormen put an end to their winless start of the new year, following up on the point picked up at league leaders Leek Town, with a 3-1 victory against 1874 Northwich last time out.

Danny Holmes’ side were forced to fight back from an early goal as 1874’s Josh Nicholson netted in the 17th minute, striker Connor Rankin levelled the tie in the 40th minute before Jay Harvey put the hosts in the lead just after the break.

Rankin added the third, with an assist from the in-form substitute Bobbie McDonnell, whilst the recently recruited Mitch Duggan dominated the midfield. Thus, it is all starting to look much more positive in Ellesmere Port.

Hednesford Town, relegated from the Southern League Premier Division Central last season, will be looking to bounce back from a 3-0 defeat away at Runcorn Linnets.

As always, your support is greatly appreciated thus we look forward to seeing you in Staffordshire!
