NWCFL Premier

Tuesday 28th March 2023

Following on from Vauxhall Motors’ narrow victory against Irlam on Saturday afternoon, Mick McGraa’s promotion chasers host Bury AFC on Saturday afternoon at The VanEupen Arena.

A mistake made by the visiting defence in Ellesmere Port saw an Ethan Gouldbourne cross fly into the net, inside the first half. Bobbie McDonnell nearly made it two but saw his effort cleared off the line, late on.

Bury AFC have had a fantastic time in the NWCFL Premier Division so far after Andy Welsh’s side were crowned Champions of the North West Counties Division One North last year.

The club, formed in 2019 following the expulsion of Bury FC under the awful ownership of Steve Dale, are currently positioned 4th but have six games in hand over table toppers Avro whilst needing to make up an eleven point difference.

Motors’ defender Adam Hughes, signed from City of Liverpool FC on Friday, can be expected to play in the backline after he helped to keep a clean sheet on the weekend.
