Ellesmere Port Football Memories Book Launch - Sunday 24th May

Celebrate 140 years of football in Ellesmere Port with launch of a new book 'Ellesmere Port Football Memories’

Celebrate 140 years of football in Ellesmere Port at this unique heritage event, showcasing the town’s proud tradition of producing talented players at local, regional, national, and international level - from grassroots beginnings to global recognition.

Local historian Celia Webber will launch of her fascinating new football history book ‘Ellesmere Port Football Memories’ which will be celebrated alongside a range of family‑friendly football‑themed activities on Sunday 24 May at the Ellesmere Port Boat Museum.

The Museum will welcome former international footballer, and two time European Cup Winner Ian Bowyer, who was born in Little Sutton, to officially launch the new Ellesmere Port Football Memories book. Both Ian and Celia will be signing copies on the day.

For more information on the book, visit their Spacehive fundraiser page https://www.spacehive.com/how-football-promoted-ellesmere-port

Alongside the book signing, the Museum are planning a full day of football‑themed fun suitable for visitors of all ages, including:

  • Football skills challenges
  • Face‑painting
  • Colouring‑in and word‑search activities for children
  • Live music
  • A tombola
  • Traditional football‑terrace favourites — pies and chips — available in our café

We would greatly appreciate your support and help us spread the word.

We are confident it will be a fantastic day out for children, young people, and families at the start of the half‑term break.

As an added bonus, visitors wearing football kit will receive 10% off Museum entry.
