Motors controversial defeat leaves their play-off chances on others hands

Motors poor run of form continued at the weekend, when they fell to a third straight league defeat away to Mossley, in a result that all but ends this play-off ambitions for the season.

The home side took the lead on 5 minutes, when striker Oumar Camara outmuscled Motors defender Toby Jones, and he calmly slotted past goalkeeper Calvin Hare. Vauxhall forward Connor Harwood equalised for Danny Holmes' on the quarter hours mark, following up first from a Kevin Ellison shot that was spilled by Mossley keeper Fin Madigan.

The games first controversial moment happened just before the half hour mark, when Reece Webb-Foster clashing with Motors defender Fin Heath, the referee blowing for a fowl that could only have been an elbow to the face, yet the Mossley forward was only shown a yellow card for his infraction.

And it would be that man Webb-Foster that restored the home sides' lead just after the 2nd half interval. A mix up between Motors defender Jordan Deer and keeper Hare meant they both left the ball for each other to clear, and when neither did, the Mossley man stole in score from inside the box.

The lead would only last for 3 minutes, when Fin Heath added to his show reel of direct free kick goals with a glorious effort from 25 yards that nestled in the top corner.

The games second controversial moment came on the hour mark, when striker Camara was clearly stood in an offside position when he was the beneficiary of a blocked clearance, slotting past Hare to give the home side their 3rd lead of the afternoon.

On a day that could have seen the Motors go back into the play-off positions thanks to results elsewhere, their playoff hopes are now out of their hands.
